Youth In Action

Volunteer West Island works in partnership with Members of the National Assembly of Quebec to promote volunteering among young people in the West Island. The Youth In Action (YIA) Volunteer Challenge recognizes those who become involved in their community.

Volunteer West Island is excited to announce the return of the Youth in Action Volunteer Challenge for the 2025-2026 school year! This challenge encourages high school students from the West Island and borough of Lachine to participate in the promotion of sustainable development through the Global Goals created by the United Nations. Students will be evaluated by their promotion of and participation in activities and actions which support the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Our theme this year is Global Goals / Local Impact.

Students who succeed in completing at least 30 hours of volunteer activities and actions that touch at least 5 Global Goals will be recognized for their efforts and accomplishments based on a predetermined ranking system of evaluation. Student submissions that meet the required objectives have the possibility of being 1 of 5 winners to receive a $500 scholarship. All students who participate in the YIA Volunteer Challenge will receive a certificate of participation signed by VWI and the participating MNA’s. The challenge runs from September 15th, 2025 to March 15th, 2026. If you are interested in participating in the challenge, register as a volunteer on our website.
